Objectives:
Following the Presentation, Participants will be able to:
1. Methodology in interviewing and assessing the suicidal individual within the healthcare setting.
2. Identify risk factors of suicide in an individual experiencing suicidal ideations and/or behaviors.
3. Active listening and communication techniques to help the suicidal individual to feel more comfortable
in sharing their honest thoughts and plans, while identifying prevention factors that can steer them
from their suicidal acts.

healthcare professional and help to create a commitment for living.
5. Initiate a treatment plan or the suicidal client that helps to reduce the risk of hospital suicide, while
increasing the possibility of long term reduction in suicidality.
