Recognizing the Dynamics of School Violence
You don’t have to watch the news for very long these days to hear about another incident of school violence, whether it is from a student or someone entering the school environment that is supposed to be safe for our children. This phenomena is definitely on the rise these days to the point of becoming far more than a critical level. This trend is only prevented by understanding the dynamics of why these incidents occur, how to react when faced with an incident and what to do to de-escalate it. The class explores the warning signs and red flags that often show up prior to these type of incidents and what to do to head them off if possible. Attendees will examine the stages of anger and aggression and where they originate from, along with how it builds to the point where you can recognize and attempt to prevent the crisis from happening.
Recent incidents both locally and nationally, along with relevant topics and case studies of the individuals who cause these disturbing incidents will be discussed forensically in order to better understand and evaluate the responsibilities, legalities and responses appropriate for this potentially deadly situation to those who are in the line of fire. Also covered will be the dynamics of use of force and the legalities teachers and school security need to keep in mind when encountering a potentially violent situation within your school. This program is especially essential for Teachers and Administrators of educational facilities. If we can recognize the warning signs, then we have a good chance to help to prevent them from effecting our children’s safe haven.
Workshops can accommodate from 10 to 50 attendees and can be completely customized to the facility and their individual needs.
